You can check at for more accounts. One mentioned that the total length of the Y was reduced after they filled in some gaps. This may or may not have any relevance for segment matching on the X. I tend to think not, but it might depend on whether the SNPs are in the "ampliconic regions" (stretches of nearly identical DNA that appear multiple times on the chromosome).
